Mighty Springfielders!

As promised, here are the details for our first fundraising event of the year, the SPRINGFIELD ARM WRESTLING ARM-AGEDDON! For those of you who were not at the meeting, we’re going to be having an arm wrestling tournament in the SIMMONS MAIL ROOM on THURSDAY, OCT. 15 AT 7 PM.  Get pumped, this event is going to be AWESOME, we can’t wait! The tournament will be organized into 3 groups, a Male, Female, and a just-for-kicks Lefty Bracket. It’ll cost $3 for each participant with all money FTK, and we’ll take money and set up brackets the day of the event. Be on the lookout for a Facebook event going up tomorrow about it, and remember to tell everyone you know at Penn State! We’re trying to get as many people involved in this as possible so that Springfieldcan kick the fundraising season off right! And even if arm wrestling isn’t your thing, please come out and watch Jeff get beaten in arm wrestling again! Plus, we’ll be showing the movie Dodgeball to pump up the crowd for THON Dodgeball on Oct. 18!

If you signed up for CANNING for the first trip, Oct. 23-25, get ready to have one of the best weekends of your college career. If you haven’t yet, not to worry!  E-mail Britt Kern  (kern.brittney@gmail.com) with your name, e-mail, time you can leave on Friday, and any dietary restrictions you may have. Also, if you can DRIVE please let Britt know how many people you can take. Finally, if you are interested in HOSTING please send Britt an e-mail ASAP with your town and state, phone number, and how many Springfielders you would like to have. We currently have a ton of people signed up to go canning, but WE NEED MORE HOSTS! So please call and ask your family if they would like to have you back home with ten to twenty Springfield Spartans to make money FTK! 

T SHIRTS! TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO BUY A T-SHIRT!!! So if you haven’t ordered one or haven’t paid yet, you can still drop off money with Britt in 310 Simmons anytime or at the HUB by the fish tanks from 12-5 . If Britt isn’t in her room, you can slide it under her door with your name, size, and e-mail. Again, the deadline to pay for a shirt is WEDNESDAY OCT. 7.  IF YOU DON’T PAY FOR A SHIRT BY THEN, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY YOU ONE.

5K Signups, same as above. Sign up at the HUB or with Britt, cost is $15. 
Don’t miss out on this awesome event FTK! Remember, your registration fee counts toward our total this year! 

And don’t forget about Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday at 9 PM. Gabbie (610-529-4851), Hannah (267-337-2012), and their roommates have been gracious enough to host a Grey’s party at their apartment, 303 GN Center (above Panera on Allen Street), hope to see you there! 

Finally, the epic-ness that is the THON Dodgeball Tournament!!! If you have not signed up yet and would like to play (or know of someone that would like to play), please e-mail Claire (clairexu@psu.edu).  For those of you already on the list, please also e-mail Claire back to confirm that you still want to play. The Dodgeball Tournament will be on Sunday, Oct. 18, starting at 11:30 at the Multi Sport Complex, and teams will consist of 6 players and 1 substitute.  Registration costs $10 a person and will be on THURSDAY, OCT. 8, at 11 AM in ALUMNI HALL, so PLEASE E-MAIL ME BY WEDNESDAY OCT. 7.  If you know who you want to be on a team with, please let Claire know that too.  Dodgeball money can also be dropped off at the HUB on Oct. 7 from 12-5 or with Britt in 310 Simmons (If you are slipping it under the door, please make sure to put it in an envelope that says “Dodgeball”!). 

Last, just a REMINDER that this Sunday, Oct. 11’s meeting will be held at 6 PM instead of the usual time.  It’s the CANNING EXTRAVAGANZA- you definitely don’t want to miss this one!!!
